Minutes of October 2007;

The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:00 pm at the range by club president, Michael McCalister. Present at the meeting were Alex Vervilos, Robert Tabarez, Bill Hornof Sr, Mike Beddow, Al Rafferty,  Jim Wohlgemuth, Mark Rubio, Robert Williams, Dusty Robben, Paul Ackerman, Jim Gietler, Chad Reis, Randy Gastineau, Gary & Janine Ledbetter, Joe Campisi, John Hughes, Steve Hoglund  and Louie Fussaro.

Old Business;

Please send me any information, news or pictures that you would like to have added to your website. Please keep the hunting pictures tasteful. Mike and Al are working closely with Kris from the County of Yolo on the Bowmen Range improvements and it looks like they will start by doing some disking in the near future.

 Range Report;

The range is in great condition. We still need to police the range and make sure that no one is smoking on the range. The Bowmen really came thru on the range to get it in shape for the Nor-Cal shoot. All turned out great and all remarks from shooters were very positive. We have a lot of brush piled up and we’ll be getting Mikee to take care of that soon. All equipment is in good running condition at this time. The bales on the north side were re-smashed before the shoot and we were hoping to get to the south side but the bale smasher broke and took some time to get it re-welded. It works great now and we’ll be doing the south side soon. Broken water line next to the horse shoot club pits. Dave from Yolo Horse Shoe is attempting the repairs. Dixon Power Equipment is working on a used power pole saw to donate to the Yolo Bowmen, thanks John.

Remember: NO SMOKING ON THE RANGE

New Business:

The Yolo Bowmen now having a lockable file cabinet on site and it is ready to be used. Randy and Chad will be making repairs on the bent pay box on the practice range. Someone apparently attempted to make a withdrawal instead of a payment. The county is currently discing around the range and so far it appears to be going well and with no expenses from our fund makes it even better. A discussion was had regarding our electrical bill and it was proposed that we now go to the Yolo Horseshoe club for a partial payment of this monthly bill. All agreed that $40.00 per month would be a good start for the first year. Mike will meet with Dave from the horseshoe club to discuss. Randy also brought up a suggestion of putting “motion” sensors in the bathrooms so that the lights aren’t left on all night. Randy to get the list and pricing for discussion at the December meeting. Al made a motion to donate all of the proceeds from the Nor-Cal shoot back to Nor-Cal. The motion was approved and carried. Nor-Cal will be receiving approximately $400.00 at their next meeting. Dusty brought up a discussion about possibly raising our dues to include a fee for non-work parties attended to be billed at the end of each year to members who did not attend the required work parties. The discussion was shelved until the County of Yolo moves forward with the park changes which will most likely include a park fee for day use. (Not for bowmen) Officer elections were held and here is a list of your new officers for the coming year 2008. These new officers will be taking over effective January 1, 2008. Congratulations to each of your new officers.                                                         1)            President – Robert Williams                                                                                            2)     Vice-President – Mark Rubio                                                                                        3)       Treasurer – Robert Tabarez                                                                                      4)          Secretary – Alex Vervilos                                                                                               5)      Range Manger – Randy Gastineau                                                                             6)        Equipment Manager – Chad Reis                                                                              7)          Publicist – Shaun Ayers                                                                                                      As everyone can see, there are many new officers this year, so we need to give them all of the support that we can. The positions are not all easy and require much dedication throughout the year. There was a motion made to move the meeting time to 6:00 pm beginning on the December meeting due to winter hours.

Nor-Cal Report:
Nor-cal is having officer nominations at their next meeting. Treasurer position is open and needs to be filled. Nor-Cal is hiring a lobbyist to attend meetings and California Heritage Alliance wants to represent CBH in this capacity. Nor-Cal’s website is not up and running yet but should be very soon.

Report:
Robert Tobarez is reporting that we have done well with our “CDs” and the interest will be put into the checking account to help get us thru the end of the year in a positive manner in regards to having all of our bills paid in full. The water “testing” fee will be handled and paid by the County of Yolo Parks Department going forward. This is a big help to us as it means a money saver.

Equipment Report:
We have a new gas powered weed eater and Mark tells us that all other equipment is ready to go. The yellow tractor has new flails just in time for the dry season. We can now mow down to the ground. Thanks to Bill Sr for getting us such a great deal on these replacement parts.

Dues are due beginning January 1 2007. The yearly fee is $50.00 per person or family.
